Drivers on Rt. 1 in Fredericksburg should keep an extra eye out for pedestrians. Two major intersection projects are now complete — and both bring noticeable upgrades for people on foot.
Construction wrapped on improvements at Fall Hill Ave and at Hanson Ave/Princess Anne St, adding new crosswalks, signals, and redesigned traffic flow aimed at making these busy stretches safer and easier to navigate.
Rt. 1 & Fall Hill Ave Improvements
- New crosswalks and pedestrian signal equipment at all corners
- SB turn lane added; NB turn lane extended
- Three lanes on both Fall Hill Ave approaches
- Raised median separating NB/SB Rt. 1 traffic
- Amaret St converted to one‑way between Rt. 1 and Race St
- Updated traffic signal equipment
