2 Arrested in Portsmouth After Report of Men in Parking Lot with Guns

Portsmouth Police reported two arrests stemming from a call regarding men in a parking lot with guns.

Around 8:43 p.m. on June 7, officers responded to a parking lot on Navajo Trail where it was reported that men were “handling” guns.

Upon arrival, police allegedly saw two men attempting to hide the guns, which were recovered.

The officers were suspicious of other criminal offenses and requested a K‑9 for an open‑air sniff. K‑9 Ace alerted to an adjacent vehicle.

Police said officers obtained a search warrant and found 59 bags of marijuana (3.5 grams each) and several more guns, including a Glock with a switch.

Twenty‑seven‑year‑old Rashaun Duvon Carter Jr. and 25‑year‑old Jaquan Lamonte Majette were arrested. According to PPD, their charges include:

  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana (<1 oz)
  • Possession of auto shears and trigger activators
  • Possession of a Schedule I or II narcotic
  • Possession of firearms while in possession of certain substances

Duvon Carter is listed as still incarcerated.

Majette’s charges do not appear in online court records.
