2 Dead at Scene of Officer-Involved Shooting in Alexandria
Two people are dead, including a man fatally shot by police, after an officer‑involved shooting early Monday at an apartment complex on Canterbury Square in Alexandria.
Officers were dispatched around 4 a.m. to 27 Canterbury Square after a 911 caller reported that a female had been shot inside the apartment. When officers arrived, a family member was standing near the doorway and was immediately removed from the scene for safety.
Inside the unit, officers encountered a barricaded suspect in a bedroom where they believed the wounded female was located. McGuire said the man refused repeated verbal commands to come out.
