FBI: Alleged Carroll County Cop Shooter Captured

The 55-year-old suspect accused of shooting two Carroll County, Virginia, deputies has been captured. According to Carroll County Sheriff Kevin Kemp, on May 29, his office received a request from a family member to conduct a welfare check on Fancy Gap Highway in Cana. Two deputies were dispatched, and upon arrival, they made contact with Michael Puckett. During the encounter, Puckett opened fire on the officers, Kemp said, and the deputies returned fire. Both deputies were struck. Deputy Logan Utt was pronounced dead. The second, unnamed deputy was struck in a ballistic vest, received medical evaluation, and is reported to be in stable condition.
