7-Locality Fall Line Trail Advances w/ Latest Groundbreaking

On Oct. 7, there was another major step toward creating a regional trail connecting Ashland to Petersburg. Community advocates, project staff, and government leaders gathered for the groundbreaking of the southern section of the Fall Line Trail.

This upcoming 10-mile section will connect Petersburg, Colonial Heights and Chesterfield, with completion expected in winter 2028.

The ultimate vision is a 43-mile paved, multi-use trailĀ running from Ashland through the Richmond region to Petersburg, connecting seven localities and providing a continuous corridor for walking, bicycling and recreation.
