18-year-old Charged for Ramming Chesterfield Fire Station

An 18-year-old is facing charges for intentionally crashing into a Chesterfield fire station. According to a statement from Chesterfield Fire & EMS, on January 4, there was “a scary situation” at Station 7 on Hull Street Road. A car drove into the front of the station multiple times, breaking the glass bay doors. The driver, “who was also driving a stolen car,” got into the station and was detained until Chesterfield Police arrived and arrested him. Driver identified & 2nd arrest made for fatal hit-and-run crash in Henrico

Henrico Police announced the 2nd arrest linked to the fatal March 22 hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Airport Drive and Audubon Drive. What allegedly began as a high-speed chase in New Kent ended with the crash in Henrico claiming the life Luis Fernando Cac Caal, 29, of Sandston. On the evening of May 19, Samarion Ty’shon Seymour, 20, of Norfolk, turned himself into the Petersburg Bureau of Police. During the course of the investigation, Henrico Police and investigators from the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office determined Seymour was the driver of the Cadillac CTS that crashed killing Cac Caal. Virginia State Police is on the hunt for Robin Lynwood Wood, Jr. who has reportedly been on the run for nearly 4 months. Also known as “Robbie," Wood is wanted for charges stemming from a serious crash in Powhatan on November 17, 2024. Wood was reportedly driving an SUV, doing 77 mph in a 55-mph zone. A Powhatan deputy attempted to stop him for speeding. VSP said Wood attempted to elude the officer and was traveling at a high rate of speed. In the midst of this getaway, he crashed into the woods and hit numerous trees. A former Lancaster County deputy has been arrested for child offenses again. According to Hanover Sheriff’s Office, last month, 29-year-old Motley Allen Haynie was posing as a juvenile online and interacted with an investigator. Haynie was attempting to arrange a meeting to engage in sexual activity. Hanover Sheriff’s Office said the individual was identified as Haynie, then, on July 25, warrants were obtained for two counts of solicitation of a minor and one count each for solicitation of child pornography and taking indecent liberties with a minor. Arrested: Richmond man wanted in Tappahannock & suspected in Caroline murder case

Caroline Sheriff’s Office revealed 38-year-old Ron Jamaal Dawson is a person of interest in the Reginald Holmes’ murder. Holmes’ body was found in the woods on Sparta Rd. in May. Last month, 32-year-old Johnathan O’Bryan Ellis was charged for Holmes’ murder. At the time, Caroline Sheriff Scott Moser said additional arrests are expected. According to CCSO, Dawson and Ellis, both from Richmond, are close associates. And Dawson has been a person of interest since the early stages of the Holmes investigation. Many UPS packages will not be arriving due to a 3-alarm fire at a UPS warehouse in Chesterfield yesterday. Chesterfield Fire & EMS crews were dispatched to the 9600 block of Coach Road at 2:37 a.m. and report finding fire coming from a semi-truck trailer attached to the side of the warehouse. Henrico Police announce plan to reduce response to calls

Henrico County Police has generated quite a buzz with its announcement about a “Calls for Service Reduction Plan” that went into effect Monday, March 18. Under the plan, Henrico officers will change how they responds to certain types of calls and will stop responding to some calls altogether. According to Henrico Police Chief Eric English, in the past, the department’s officers have been put in positions to respond to calls where they have no legal authority. That has prevented officers from responding to priority calls in a timely and efficient manner. It’s also led to a lack of available units. VA General Assembly update: HB 721, an anti-rent gouging bill, moves forward

HB 721 “aims to protect Virginians against rent gouging practices,” said Delegate Nadarius Clark, who introduced the bill. If passed, HB 721 will give localities the ability to adopt anti-rent gouging provisions and an anti-rent gouging board. Notice would have to be provided and a public hearing held before a locality adopted its measures. The bill also requires landlords to provide at least two months written notice of a rent increase. Additionally, a rent increase couldn’t exceed the locality calculated allowance. And the allowance would be set at equal to the annual increase in the Consumer Price Index or 7%, whichever is less.
