Juvenile Arrested for Armed Robbery in Spotsylvania

A 16-year-old in Spotsylvania was arrested Monday in connection with an armed robbery investigation.

According to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, deputies responded to Silver Creek Court for a reported robbery.

The victim, who is also a juvenile, told deputies they were walking along a trail when an individual approached with a gun, stole several personal items, and fled. The victim then went to a nearby residence and used a phone to call the sheriff’s office.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, assisted by the Spotsylvania SWAT Team, executed a search warrant in the Edinburgh subdivision the following morning as part of the investigation.

As a result, a 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with robbery. He was subsequently transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

In a statement, Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office recognized the fear incidents like this can cause for the young victim, the victim’s family, and the broader community, the agency said in a statement. “We are also deeply concerned by the alleged involvement of a juvenile in an armed robbery and the lasting harm such actions can cause everyone involved,” the sheriff’s office stated.
