Kevin C. Hogge, of Diggs, has been arrested for embezzling money from Salem Church.

According to Mathews County Sheriff’s Office, church leaders reported suspicious financial activity involving the church treasurer in January.

After a months-long investigation, MCSO reported finding numerous instances of forged checks and suspects over $70,000 was embezzled.

The 55-year-old was arrested June 9, and is facing two counts of embezzling checks and two counts of forgery.

Hogge was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
