An 18-year-old has been arrested for the fatal hit-and-run that occurred at Airport Drive in Henrico last Saturday, March 22.
The incident reportedly began with a New Kent deputy attempting to stop a vehicle headed westbound on I-64. According to New Kent Sheriff’s Office, that vehicle was going over 110 miles per hour.
Refusing to stop, the car, later identified as a Cadillac CTS, continued into Henrico and took the Airport Road exit. NKSO said the driver disregarded multiple traffic signals and collided into another vehicle.
Henrico Police Department confirmed that the driver of the Yaris, 29-year-old Luis Fernando Cac Caal of Sandston died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at Airport and Audubon Drive. A woman in the Yaris was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

After the crash, the individuals in the Cadillac reportedly ran toward Sandston.
Hours later, Tony Lamont Roberts Jr., of Hopewell, was taken into custody by Hopewell Police Department.
Henrico was the lead agency for the portion of the incident involving the crash and has charged Roberts with:
- Felony Hit-and-Run
- Misdemeanor Eluding
- Obstruction of Justice
- Possession of a Firearm by a felon
- Possession of a Firearm while under a protective order
- Possession of an extended magazine.
NKSO is the leading agency for the portion of the incident involving the police chase but has not yet announced charges.
Roberts has a history of legal issues, including a current case in Petersburg, where he’s charged with burglary to rape, murder, possession of a firearm under 18, and 2counts of robbery: death.
Roberts is currently being held without bond.
