Actions of Colonial Beach Police Prompt VSP Investigation

Colonial Beach Police Department called in Virginia State Police to conduct an independent investigation after one of its officers recorded hitting a restrained man. The video show two police officers pinning a man to the road, and one of those officers hit the man multiple times. Lane closures across Northern Neck next week for shoulder widening

Next week, VDOT will begin widening shoulders on roads in the Northern Neck to reduce crash risks. In addition to installing 2-foot paved shoulders, crews will also install shoulder rumble strips, 6-inch edge line pavement markings and relocate existing signs as required. VSP still hunting for vehicle in Norris Bridge shutdown

Virginia State Police are looking for a truck reportedly involved in a hit-and-run crash on Norris Bridge between Lancaster and Middlesex. According to VSP, at around 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, a silver/gray truck towing a large white camper was heading westbound across the bridge toward Lancaster when it when it crossed the centerline and struck a van going in the opposite direction. Missing Maryland woman found in river in Northumberland, VA

The body of a 79-year-old Maryland woman was found in the river in Northumberland, according to the Sheriff’s Office Louise Cox, of Prince George’s County had been reported missing. Her missing poster stated she was last seen on Saturday, July 12, in the evening at Rivertowne Shopping Center in Oxon Hill. The vehicle associated with her was a black 2014 Honda Accord. Northumberland Sheriff’s Office reported that its deputies were called to Ferry Road on Monday morning, July 14, for an unattended vehicle. Virginia State Police have identified the two individuals killed in a fiery three-vehicle crash that forced a lengthy shutdown of the Norris Bridge on Sunday. Suspect in custody after shooting at racetrack in Colonial Beach

A 47-year-old Colonial Beach man who was briefly wanted for the weekend shooting at Custom T’s Motorsports Park is now in custody and being held without bond. Dwayne Newman, of Colonial Beach, has been charged for shooting Eric Fauntleroy on Saturday, July 12, during an event called Nanu’s Bikefest.
