Colonial Beach Police Department called in Virginia State Police to conduct an independent investigation after one of its officers recorded hitting a restrained man. The video show two police officers pinning a man to the road, and one of those officers hit the man multiple times. Suspect in custody after shooting at racetrack in Colonial Beach

A 47-year-old Colonial Beach man who was briefly wanted for the weekend shooting at Custom T’s Motorsports Park is now in custody and being held without bond. Dwayne Newman, of Colonial Beach, has been charged for shooting Eric Fauntleroy on Saturday, July 12, during an event called Nanu’s Bikefest. Newman is charged with malicious wounding and using a firearm in the commission of a felony, 1st offense. Body recovered after report of person jumping from Harry Nice bridge

On Wednesday, a man reportedly jumped from the Rt. 301 bridge that crosses the Potomac River and connects King George County, VA and Charles County, MD. Charles County and King George were both dispatched after a call came in at approximately 11:45 a.m. reporting “person jumping,” noted William Smith, public information officer for Charles County Volunteer Fire & EMS. A range boat from Dahlgren was already in the area and went to work assisting Newburg Boat Fire #14 and Colonial Beach Fire Boat #1 in the search. According to Smith, the marine crews found a male subject on the surface of the river, and he was deceased when they discovered his body. Report of gun shots leads to discovery of dead man in Colonial Beach

On Sunday, June 9, Colonial Beach Police Department announced there was a large police presence in the area of Kintz St. and Franklin Ave. due to police working a crime scene. That crime scene, it turns out, was a fatality. In an update on Tuesday, CBPD stated a call for shots fired came in around 12:13 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a Colonial Beach man, 30-year-old Jereamy Pierce lying in the roadway. According to CBPD, EMS personnel declared Pierce dead after they arrived at the scene. CBPD said this appears to be an isolated incident, and added that there’s no known threat to the public. No arrests or suspects have been announced. CBPD said the investigation is still underway and Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police have assisted. Ind...
