Suspect in Brooklyn crimes killed in Virginia Beach police chase

The man killed last week in a Virginia Beach crash during a police chase was from New York. He was driving a stolen vehicle and was listed as a suspect in a violent crime that occurred the day he died, VSP announced. The police chase began last Friday, February 23, just shy of 8:30 p.m. State Police attempted to stop a 2024 black Chevrolet pickup truck for reckless driving because the vehicle was reportedly going 92 mph in a 55 mph zone. The truck was heading south on Rt. 13 in Exmore, a town on the Eastern Shore, and refused to stop, VSP stated. 2 fatal crashes claim Brunswick County residents

In Brunswick County, there have been two fatal tree crash accidents within less than a week, both involving county residents. Virginia State Police reported a crash on Smokey Ordinary Rd. that occurred on January 13, around 7 p.m. Based on VSP’s preliminary investigations, it was determined that 42-year-old Allen Stephen Kidd was heading east and was east of Rt.712 when he lost control of a 2007 Honda Accord, ran off the road, and crashed into a tree. Kidd, a resident of Dolphin, was not wearing his seatbelt, but alcohol was not a factor, VSP stated. A 76-year-old Williamsburg woman was killed and her husband hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in York County. Christine Trena Meeske was driving east on E. Rochambeau, according to Virginia State Police. At a point west of Rt. 143, she was traveling “at a high rate of speed” and hit a 2020 Toyota Camry that was also traveling east. VSP said the preliminary investigation revealed that when the two vehicles collided, Meeske lost control, ran off the road into a ditch, and hit a culvert. That collision caused the SUV she was driving to flip over onto the roof, entrapping the occupants. Meeske died upon impact, VSP said. Man appears to have mental issues, dies in Greensville police chase

On Friday, Nov. 10, VSP was called out at about 7:21 a.m. to assist the Greensville Sheriff’s Department with a disturbance at the Simmon’s Travel Center in Emporia. At the scene, VSP reported finding Lashone Antonio Butler doing things, including urinating in the roadway and climbing on vehicles. After he was identified, police say, he ran away from Simmon’s Travel Center, got into a Kia Optima, and drove off.
