Truck falls off I-664 overpass in Suffolk

On May 2, at around 11:30 a.m., Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a report of an overturned vehicle on in the 4400 block of Bridge Rd. Tractor-trailer kills pedestrian on I-664 in Suffolk

The Commonwealth’s Attorney in Suffolk will determine whether or not to file charges against Demarquese Larnell Hayes, the truck driver involved in the fatal crash on I-664 South in Suffolk on Tuesday, March 4. According to Virginia State Police, it appears 39-year-old Corey L. B. Knight was driving a 2023 Volkswagen GTI, pulled over on the right shoulder of I-664 at College Drive, and got out. Hayes came along in a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer and drifted onto the shoulder striking Knight and the Volkswagen, killing Knight immediately, said VSP. State Police were dispatched to the scene around 1:15 a.m. and said Knight had turned on the vehicle's lights. There is no evidence of drug or alcohol intoxication, or speed was a factor, said VSP. Driver seriously injured in New Kent turn-over crash

The driver of the tractor-trailer that overturned on Pocahontas Trail in New Kent on Tuesday was seriously injured, Virginia State Police Sgt. Jessica Shehan confirmed. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. near the 4100 block of Pocahontas Trail (Route 60) just west of Toe Ink Wayside. Shehan said the driver, Santos Adan Rios Reyes, a 49-year-old Manassas Park man, stated he crashed because he took his eyes off the roadway to grab something inside the vehicle. After he ran off the roadway, he over corrected, overturned and his load spilled in the road. The Montross man charged for the overturned log truck crash that shut down Rt. 33 in Gloucester on Nov. 21 didn’t even have a driver’s license, according to Virginia State Police. At around 1:30 p.m. on that Thursday afternoon, 56-year-old Arthur W. Cardell was driving a 1998 International truck from Robinson's D & B Logging in the 12000 block of History Land Hwy in Warsaw, according to the report from VSP. Hit & Run tractor-trailer crash kills 93-year-old in Leesburg

Leesburg Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run tractor-trailer incident that claimed the life of a Lovettsville woman. On October 23, at approximately 1:45 p.m., a tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on the Rt. 15 bypass and struck a Chrysler 300 at Fort Evans Road NE, LPD said the preliminary investigation revealed. There were three people in the Chrysler 300. All of them were transported to the hospital, and 93-year-old Monica Lee, a passenger, died from her injuries LPD reported. The incident occurred on Rt. 30 in King William around 3:30 p.m. According to Virginia State Police, 35-year-old Brian Winston Carroll was headed westbound on King William Road in a 2023 International tractor-trailer. Tractor-trailer crash shut down I-81, dozens of cows dead

At one point on Sunday, both the north and southbound lanes of I-81 between the mile markers 291 and 296 were shut down indefinitely. The cause was a tractor-trailer crash in Shenandoah County that is now being investigated by Virginia State Police. According to VSP public information officer Sgt. Brent Coffey, it was a single-vehicle incident. Around 4 a.m., the truck was heading northbound on I-81 hauling 105 cattle. The driver, Shawn E. Alford, 59, of Grottoes, ran off the left side of the road and the truck hit a guardrail then flipped over. Truck crash leaves trailer standing upright in New Kent

A single vehicle trailer-trailer crash shut down part of I-64 West in New Kent for hours on Thursday. According to VSP, at about 9:30 a.m., the truck was heading westbound when, at the 200 mile marker, the raised bed hit the overhead traffic sign. VSP said the bed separated from the cab and remained upright against the damaged highway sign.
