2 Dead at Scene of Officer-Involved Shooting in Alexandria

Two people are dead, including a man fatally shot by police, after an officer‑involved shooting early Monday at an apartment complex on Canterbury Square in Alexandria. Officers were dispatched around 4 a.m. to 27 Canterbury Square after a 911 caller reported that a female had been shot inside the apartment. When officers arrived, a family member was standing near the doorway and was immediately removed from the scene for safety. Alexandria Deputy Charged for Drug Smuggling

The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office (ASO) has arrested one of its own on drug-related charges. Former deputy Amarachukwu Igwe was allegedly caught attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Alexandria Adult Detention Center on April 4. According to ASO, her intent was to provide the drugs to an inmate. Authorities took Igwe into custody before any narcotics were delivered to the intended recipient or entered the facility’s general population. Igwe was transported to the Arlington County Detention Facility for processing. VSP Searching for Leads in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Alexandria

At approximately 6:12 a.m. this morning, March 24, Virginia State Police reported getting dispatched for a pedestrian on Interstate 395.  According to VSP, when troopers arrived on the scene, a pedestrian was in the center lane of the northbound side of the interstate dead. The individual was found near the exit for Duke Street. VSP has not released any details about the deceased individual and said they are still working on the identity. The driver accused of ramming a Virginia State Trooper during a pursuit across state lines on December 29 was identified as Naturi Michon Hayes of Elkridge, MD. Shortly before midnight a Virginia State Trooper was informed of a stolen vehicle in Alexandria.
