4 men beat felonies for bringing guns to Gloucester School Board meeting

Last summer, four out-of-town men were charged with felonies for bringing guns to a Gloucester County School Board meeting. Last week, on July 19, a jury found them not guilty. The charges stemmed from a previously reported incident at the July 2023 Gloucester School Board meeting. Trevor Herrin, of Williamsburg, came to the podium to offer some words of caution to school board members. He said someone slashed his tire at the school board meeting the month before. The self-described “experienced political operative” described the tire-slashing as an act of violence and told the School Board they had an opportunity to make things right. In the January 30, Dr. Vladu said two incidents were discovered within the last 24 hours. At Page Middle School a message was found in a restroom that similar to the one found at Peasley Middle School on January 19, the superintendent stated. At Gloucester High School, “a message of hatred directed at the African American Community” was found on a bathroom stall. Vladu said the bathroom was closed after the discovery, and an investigation is underway. Threats lead to evacuation of Alexandria, VA elementary school

Wednesday, an Alexandria, VA elementary school was evacuated amid a series of “false threats” that are now being investigated as swatting incidents, according to the police department. After receiving a call “of someone going to the school with guns” APD said it responded to Charles Barrett Elementary at 12:04 p.m. with officers, K9s, and SWAT and began searching the school. In a letter to families, the Charles Barrett principal, Loren Brody, said the school first went into “secure the building” status. Gloucester County Schools Superintendent Dr. Anthony Vladu issued a notice last Friday informing families and staff about a racist incident at Peasley Middle School.
