An off-duty Virginia State Police special agent fatally shot a 40-year-old man who allegedly attempted to break into his home on Sunday, August 24.  The agent, a 10-year veteran of the force whose identity has not been released, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation. An 18-year-old has been hospitalized and is in critical condition after being shot by Virginia Beach Police. Virginia State Police released select details but left many unfilled blanks in the report of a traffic stop that turned into a 16-year-old getting shot in an "officer-involved shooting." According to VSP, on April 29, Fairfax City Police attempted to make a traffic stop near Burke Station Road and Main Street, but “the suspect vehicle” fled the scene. Virginia Beach Police Department announced that one of its officers was involved in a fatal incident this week. On Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Quarter Way at 10:23 for a drug overdose call, VBPD stated. The first officer at the scene reportedly heard commotion inside the residence and went in. VBPD said that officer found a man later identified as Robert Miller and a female upstairs in a bedroom struggling over a knife. The officer reportedly gave several commands for Miller to drop the knife. Alexandria Police Department revealed a welfare check turned fatal on Tuesday. According to APD, at around 10:45 p.m., a man called requesting a welfare check for a co-worker at 5101 Maris Ave. He reportedly stated that his co-worker had made statements about harming himself and was armed with at least two guns. Woodbridge man charged in fatal shooting of his wife, police ask for public’s help

Prince William County Police are trying to piece together what happened to cause a Woodbridge man to shoot his wife, and they’re asking for the public’s help. The shooting occurred on January 6. PWPD reported that, at around 5 p.m., its officers were dispatched to an area hospital where 24-year-old Desire Alexandria Buggs had been brought in suffering from a gunshot and later died. From the preliminary investigation, PWPD said they were able to determine that it was her husband, 24-year-old Daniel Okoe Lawson, who brought Buggs to the hospital.
