2 fatal crashes claim Brunswick County residents

In Brunswick County, there have been two fatal tree crash accidents within less than a week, both involving county residents.

Virginia State Police reported a crash on Smokey Ordinary Rd. that occurred on January 13, around 7 p.m.

Based on VSP’s preliminary investigations, it was determined that 42-year-old Allen Stephen Kidd was heading east and was east of Rt.712 when he lost control of a 2007 Honda Accord, ran off the road, and crashed into a tree.

Kidd, a resident of Dolphin, was not wearing his seatbelt, but alcohol was not a factor, VSP stated.

Honda Odyssey driven by Millie Meredith

On January 18th, shortly after 5 p.m., VSP was dispatched to the 20900 block of Christanna Hwy.

In that case, VSP’s preliminary investigation determined Millie Edna Meredith, a 79-year-old Taft St. resident, was headed north when she lost control, ran off the road, and the 2006 Honda Odyssey she was driving slammed into a tree.

Meredith was wearing a seatbelt, and VSP ruled out both alcohol and speed as contributing factors.
