5 stabbed at Spotsy car meet, 1 arrest

A 19-year-old from Fredericksburg is being held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail after five people were stabbed at an unorganized, unpermitted car meet.

Early on Sunday, July 20, Spotsylvania deputies were dispatched to the 4800 block of Southpoint Parkway for a report of a stabbing.

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office described the scene as chaotic with people scrambling in various directions.

Some of the stabbing victims had already made their way to the hospital but several were still at the scene.

The deputies rendered life-saving medical aid and Spotsylvania Fire Rescue took over and transported the victims to the hospital.

None of the victims were named, but SCSO said they range from 15 – 20 years old.

SCSO’s Criminal Investigations Division determined that the incident stemmed from a physical altercation that turned into a large-scale brawl.

So far, Lenox Shelton is the only suspect arrested. Initially, he was charged with two counts of malicious wounding, but that has increased to three counts.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking for anyone with video footage or information to reach out.
