Leesburg Police Department announced the man suspected of robbing Truist Bank this morning has been arrested.
Earlier today, LPD revealed officers were on the scene around the 1000 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE and the 200 block of Fort Evans Road NE (Leesburg Premium Outlets) actively investigating a robbery that occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m.
While canvassing the area, an officer spotted a person matching the suspect’s description near the Leesburg Premium Outlet Mall. According to LPD, the man ran, and there was a brief foot chase before officers apprehended him.
He was identified as 25-year-old Joshua Boyce of Leesburg.
Boyce was arrested and charged with robbery and wearing a mask in connection with a robbery.
Boyce has a history of run-ins with the law, including charges for theft-related crimes, court records show. In 2019, he pled guilty to petty larceny that occurred in Loudoun in 2018. Then, in October 2019, he was hit with charges for shoplifting, possession of burglary tools, and destruction of property. That case was set for trial but the charges were dropped in 2021.
LPD said Boyce is currently at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he is currently awaiting a bond review.
Meanwhile, LPD is asking anyone who was at or near the Truist at 1007 Edwards Ferry Road NE during or around the time of the robbery and witnessed anything suspicious to reach out to the department.
Earlier this month, LPD released additional photos and issued a renewed call for information regarding the robbery of this same Truist branch that occurred last October. The suspect in that incident still hadn’t been identified.
