A man described by Stafford Sheriff Office as a “serial armed robber” was caught, arrested, and hit with charges from three jurisdictions.
Suspect in Spotsylvania
On November 12th, at approximately 11:30p.m., a call came in to Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office reporting a robbery at the 7-Eleven in the 10350 block of Patriot Highway. A store employee reported a black male came in, displayed a handgun, and demanded money, Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office stated. The employee provided the money, and the suspect fled.
Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office revealed that while deputies were on the scene investigating that robbery, another 911 call came in at 12:30 a.m. from a 7-Eleven at 5900 Harrison Road. An employee in that store also reported getting robbed by a black man with a handgun. Again, the employee complied and suspect fled the scene on foot, Spotsylvania S.O. reported.
Suspect in Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg Police Department reported that at 1:33 a.m. a call came in to its communications center reporting an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven at 340 Amaret Street. The masked individual showed a gun, demanded money, and once the employee provided it, the suspect fled on foot, FPD said.
According to FPD, in addition to the employee interview, they reviewed surveillance footage that provided a description of the man. That information was shared with Stafford Sheriff’s Office so they could help canvas the area.
Suspect in Stafford
Stafford Sheriff’s Office said Sergeant J.T. Forman was monitoring the 7-Eleven on Solomon Drive, and at around 2 a.m., “a suspicious person” parked at the fuel pumps and stayed in the vehicle for an extended period of time.
When the man finally exited his vehicle, he matched the physical description of the armed robber from the Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg incidents and was wearing similar clothing, Stafford S.O. noted.
When the man was approached and checked, Stafford police said he was wearing a bulletproof vest under his jacket, had a large wad of cash, and he had a loaded gun on him and in his vehicle.
That man, Marquis Harrell, a 30-year-old, of Stafford County, was also later identified by Stafford Deputy J.A. Albright as a suspect in two alcohol thefts from the ABC Store at 9 Village Parkway on November 11th and 12th, the office reported.
Charges
In Stafford, Harrell is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
For the alleged robberies in Spotsylvania County, Harrell is charged with armed robbery, brandishing a firearm, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
And for the incidents in Fredericksburg, he’s facing charges of use firearm in commission of a felony, robbery with firearm, brandishing firearm, felon in possession of firearm, and wearing mask in public.
Harrell is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. And Stafford Sheriff’s Office said additional charges could be coming.
