VDOT announced the King & Queen Board of Supervisors has requested that through truck restrictions be placed on several of the county’s backroads.
If the changes are implemented, it will mean additional miles for the truckers forced to take alternate routes.

Restrictions are proposed at:
- Route 632 (Hockley Neck Road) between Route 631 (Stevensville Road/Bunker Hill Road) and Route 633 (Mantua Road), which is a distance of 1.7 miles.
- Route 633 (Stones Road/Mantua Road) between Route 629 (Walkerton Landing Road) and Route 14 (The Trail), which is a distance of 6.9 miles.
- Route 634 (Mt. Elba Road) between Route 629 (Walkerton Landing Road) and Route 633 (Stones Road), which is a distance of 1.3 miles.
The alternate route for through trucks would be Route 14 and Walkerton Landing Road. The alternate route for the restricted sections of Hockley Neck Road and Mt. Elba Road would be 11.2 miles. The alternate route for the restricted section of Stones Road/Mantua Road is 5.1 miles.
VDOT has opened the matter up for public comment.
Individuals wanting to weigh in should mail their comments to VDOT Saluda Residency Administrator Lee McKnight, 1027 General Puller Highway, Saluda, VA 23149 by May 15.
