2 years later, arrest made for 19-year-old’s murder in Fredericksburg

Almost two years after 19-year-old Antione Fox was shot and left to die in the street, Fredericksburg Police announced the arrest of a suspect.

Ahmad Haigler, a 26-year-old Spotsylvania man, was taken into custody on May 29. He is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond facing charges of:

  • 1st Degree murder
  • Use of a firearm to commit a felony
  • Conspiracy to commit murder
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Fox was found on June 10, 2023 at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Lafayette Boulevard near Twin Lakes. Fredericksburg Police said they received a report of a bleeding and unconscious man in the road.

Fox died at the scene shortly after police arrived.

With the shooter still at large, several days after Fox was killed FPD offered an award and committed to pursuing justice. About a month later, still with no arrest made, FPD announced the reward was doubled to $10,000, hoping to incentivize someone from the public to come forward.

According to FPD, they have been actively investigating the case since the incident, and it was evidence collected during that investigation that led to Haigler being identified as the suspect.
