Gloucester investigating and man arrested for shooting

Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office announced there’s an active investigation into a January 2 shooting but an arrest has been made.

According to GCSO, deputies were dispatched to the 2300 Block of Perrin Creek Rd at 6:58 p.m. on Tuesday. The call was for “a domestic-related shooting,” and upon arriving at the scene in Hayes, police found an unnamed male victim “with serious injuries.”

The man was transported to the hospital and, as of this morning (Jan. 3), he was still receiving medical care.

GCSO announced that a 65-year-old suspect, Glenn Michael Edwards of Hayes, was detained and a firearm was recovered. He has been charged with four felonies, including aggravated malicious wounding, attempted 2nd degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and shotting in or at an occupied dwelling.

Court records show that Edwards is still in custody, and a court appearance scheduled for this morning was continued. The records also show that apart from driving-related offenses, he does not have a criminal history in Virginia.

Gloucester Sheriff’s Office said, at this time, they will not be are not disclosing the between Edward and the victim relationship of the victim in order to protect the victim’s identity.
