
Leesburg Police are searching for a man who reportedly assaulted a woman on the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail Thursday afternoon.
The victim was out running and was on the trail near Rhonda Place SE when she passed an unknown man. When she came back past that area, the man threw a rock and hit her in the back of the head, police say.

The man ran away, and the woman was transported to the hospital for her injuries.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’5” to 6′ tall, aged 25 to 30 years old. He was wearing a grey short-sleeve sweatshirt with a hood, shorts, and tennis shoes.
LPD is investigating this as a malicious wounding incident.
