
Days after a 49-year-old Clarksville man was announced missing, he was found in a lake near Longwood Campground.
Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office said a call came in on Friday, September 19, reporting a body was floating in the lake near the campground.

The body was recovered and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for identification and autopsy. On Monday, September 22, the Medical Examiner’s Office revealed the deceased was Wood.
Clarksville Police Department announced Wood was missing on Sunday, September 14. At that time, police said he was last heard from shortly before 9 a.m. that morning. He was last seen at midnight on Highway 15 near Arrington’s walking towards town.
Authorities are still awaiting the autopsy to determine the cause of death.
