Orlando man crashes in Southampton, VA amid police chase

According to Southampton Sheriff’s Office, an incident this weekend near Capron evolved from speeding to police chase to crash before landing a Florida man in jail with no bond.

A deputy allegedly clocked 22-year-old Thierry Milien, of Orlando, going 104 mph in a 60 mph zone on Southampton Pkwy. The deputy tried to stop the sedan, but according to SCSO, Milien disregarded the officer continuing at a high rate of speed.

Another deputy, who was further ahead, got involved and deployed spike strips. Although the Sheriff’s Office described the deployment as successful, Milien was still reportedly able to continue driving.

Then, according to SCSO, he abruptly ran off the road and crashed into a building that wasn’t occupied at the time.

SCSO said, first deputies, then EMS provided aid to Milien before he was flown to Norfolk General Hospital “as a precautionary measure.”

Milien was placed under arrest in Norfolk that day and transported to City of Norfolk Jail, which is where he is currently, records show.

He is charged with felony destruction of property, felony eluding, erratic lane changing, and reckless driving by speed.
