Police seeking tips for fatal shooting of 19-year-old in Alexandria

Authorities are calling on the public for help as they pursue leads in the murder of a 19-year-old who was fatally shot Saturday night in Alexandria.

The victim, identified as Deaundre Jack, was a resident of Alexandria. According to the Alexandria Police Department (APD), Jack was found in the parking lot of the Canterbury Square apartment complex suffering from multiple gunshot wounds around 10:15 p.m. on April 19.

Responding officers began life-saving measures immediately upon arrival, but Jack succumbed to his injuries after Alexandria Fire Department medics took over care. APD is awaiting the Office of the Medical Examiner to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Detectives with APD’s Criminal Investigations Division worked well into the early hours of Sunday morning processing evidence, canvassing the area, and interviewing residents, APD reported.

In an effort to gather more information, APD re-canvassed the area on Monday. As of now, no suspects have been named and no arrests have been made.

APD is urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to share. Investigators are particularly interested in video footage, photos, or other digital evidence that may help shed light on the moments leading up to and following the shooting.

A public portal was created to streamline the submission of potential evidence. Community members can upload videos, images, or tips directly through this secure link or by scanning a QR code provided by the department.

Anyone with information can also contact Detective M. Whelan of the APD Criminal Investigations Division at 571-221-3399.

Tips can be submitted anonymously.
