An unidentified person is dead after a police pursuit turned fatal.
Around 5 a.m. this morning, an Amelia County deputy reportedly tried to stop a 2005 Toyota Tacoma that was going over 100 mph in a 55-mph zone on Rt. 360.
That Tacoma didn’t stop, according to Virginia State Police, and a police chase began that crossed into Nottaway County.

A Virginia State trooper and multiple Nottaway deputies joined the pursuit.
When the truck reached the intersection of Rocky Hill Road (Rt. 153) and eastbound Rt. 460, it ran off the right side of the road into the woods.
The driver ran into the woods and authorities chased the individual.
According to VSP, shots were fired and the suspect was killed.
VSP did not state whether the suspect fired at authorities but said a Nottoway County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot in the hand and transported to a hospital.
VSP also didn’t indicate whether the suspect was male or female.
