Multiple injuries in crash that shut down I-85 North in Mecklenburg

Multiple vehicles were involved, multiple people were injured, and the highway was damaged and in need repairs after the crash that shut down the northbound side of I-85 in Mecklenburg on Tuesday, the South Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. reported. According to SHVFD, this work zone crash occurred around the 18.8 mile point. VSP launches investigation into Fauquier tractor-trailer crash that shut down I-66 West

The hours-long road closure on Interstate 66 West in Fauquier on Friday was caused by an overturned tractor-trailer that resulted in the westbound lanes being closed at the 24.8 mile marker. Virginia State Police said a 2010 International crashed at 8:10 a.m. The truck was headed westbound and a vehicle, that’s currently unidentified, made an unsafe lane change, VSP said. The vehicle’s maneuver caused the tractor-trailer, which was hauling 50,000 pounds of peas, to run off the left side of the highway, hit a guardrail, and turn over in the median, VSP reported. Tractor-trailer crashes into medical transport, Tappahannock man flown out

Two people were hospitalized after a tractor-trailer crashed into a medical transport van in Essex, Virginia State Police announced. On Tuesday morning, a medical transport van, a 2012 Dodge, was stopped in the road on Rt. 360 about .2 of a mile west of Route 619 because a tree had fallen across both the eastbound and westbound lanes, according to VSP. A 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer rear-ended the van, which had a passenger in route to McGuire Veterans Hospital. VSP, said after impact with the van, the tractor-trailer jack-knifed and hit the bridge. A portion of the cab was over the side of the bridge. Driver killed in 4-vehicle Accomack crash identified as Hampton man

The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a driver killed in a four-vehicle crash in Accomack last Friday, VSP announced. The deceased, whose identity was previously unknown, is 39-year-old Romar Lamont Reid of Hampton. According to VSP, the crash occurred on Lankford Highway (Route 13), a 1/2 mile south of Coal Kin Road in the town of Painter. Reid was driving a 2012 Ford sedan heading north. He was “traveling at a high rate of speed” and rear-ended a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz, VSP noted. The impact from that crash sent Reid’s vehicle into oncoming traffic, and a 2021 Freightliner tractor trailer traveling southbound hit his Ford head-on. Truck driver charged with felony for hit and run of school bus in Caroline

Kelvin Jerrod Jackson, a 33-year-old Mineral man, is facing a felony hit and run charge for crashing into a school bus in Caroline and leaving the scene. The incident occurred on February 7 at about 5:50 p.m. According to Caroline County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), a tractor-trailer hit a county school bus on Sparta Rd. near the intersection of Pendleton Rd. Deputies arrived on the scene to find the bus driver with “many lacerations on her face.” One of the three high school students who was riding the bus used his clothing to stop the bleeding on the bus driver’s face, CCSO reported. It was a 7-vehicle crashed that closed the southbound side of the Monitor Merrimac Bridge Tunnel in Newport News on Monday, Virginia State Police revealed. The accident occurred at about 6:40 a.m. And based on VSP’s preliminary investigations, it appears a Ford Focus hit the back of Chevy Malibu, which, in turn, sideswiped a tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer then rear-ended a Hyundai Sonata, causing it to hit a Ford Escape, which was pushed into a Buick.
