Virginia State Police were called to investigate a plane crash at Hampton Roads Executive Airport in Chesapeake yesterday.
The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m.
James M. Biggs of Virginia Beach was piloting a Cessna 170A when, according to VSP, he lost control of the aircraft and ran off the airstrip. The plane ended up in the grass on its side with a damaged wing and landing gear.
No passengers were reported, and VSP said Biggs was not injured.
VSP did not announce any charges and has not yet disclosed details about a possible cause.
Chesapeake Fire also responded to the scene.
