Virginia State Police looking for lost airplane door that prompted emergency landing

Authorities are searching for the door an airplane that was reportedly ripped off causing an emergency landing.

Around 9 a.m. this morning, April 5, Daniel O’Brien was flying near the Round Hill area of Loudoun County in a two-seater when the cockpit door was reportedly ripped off.

The 63-year-old pilot was able to land the fixed wing single-engine aircraft safely at the Leesburg Airport without injury, VSP reported.

The NTSB and FAA were notified.

Meanwhile, VSP said authorities have been searching for the cockpit door. It has maroon markings and is about 3 ½ feet long and 2 ½ feet wide.
