Woodbridge man charged in fatal shooting of his wife, police ask for public’s help

Prince William County Police are trying to piece together what happened to cause a Woodbridge man to shoot his wife, and they’re asking for the public’s help.

The shooting occurred on January 6. PWPD reported that, at around 5 p.m., its officers were dispatched to an area hospital where 24-year-old Desire Alexandria Buggs had been brought in suffering from a gunshot and later died.

From the preliminary investigation, PWPD said they were able to determine that it was her husband, 24-year-old Daniel Okoe Lawson, who brought Buggs to the hospital. Police also recovered what they believe to be the weapon used to shoot Buggs.

After additional investigation, PWPD said it was revealed that Lawson was involved in the fatal shooting of his wife.

Lawson is charged felony murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He’s being held without bond.

His address, according to police, is 14306 Jeffries Rd., Apt #602, in Woodbridge. However, PWPD said the shooting “reportedly” occurred in the area of Possum Point Rd. and Leonard St. in Dumfries.

Detectives are attempting to determine what led up to the shooting and to confirm the shooting location. PWPD is asking anyone who can aid investigators to contact the department.
