Suspect in custody after shooting at racetrack in Colonial Beach

A 47-year-old Colonial Beach man who was briefly wanted for the weekend shooting at Custom T’s Motorsports Park is now in custody and being held without bond.

Dwayne Newman, of Colonial Beach, has been charged for shooting Eric Fauntleroy on Saturday, July 12, during an event called Nanu’s Bikefest.

The victim, who was shot once, sustained life-threatening injuries.

Newman is charged with malicious wounding and using a firearm in the commission of a felony, 1st offense.

He is currently being held at Northern Neck Regional Jail and has an arraignment scheduled for tomorrow, July 15.
