Approximately five hours later, around 8:20 p.m., the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office notified the public that Virginia State Police had joined the search. Authorities confirmed that two male suspects were involved and that the vehicle they were using had been reported stolen.
By the time of that announcement, one suspect had already been arrested. The second male fled and remained at large. At that time, police said the last known sighting of the individual was on Boone Furnace Road in Pulaski County.

The second suspect was apprehended later that night. Shortly after 11 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office confirmed he was in custody and the scene was clear.
As of now, the Sheriff’s Office has not released the names of the suspects, details of the charges, or the reason they were being pursued.
