Hoping for leniency after shooting a man during a weed robbery, 19-year-old Brycen Scott Beal of Newport News, wrote a letter to U.S. District Judge Raymond A. Jackson stating he was “reading books, “studying the Bible for spiritual growth” and wanted to get married. Beal pled guilty to charges linked to a broad daylight shooting and was sentenced on February 13, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) announced. Robbery & shooting Court documents show Beal admitted that, about midday on February 21, 2023, he arranged to meet D.M in the parking lot of Patriots Crossing Apartment Complex in Newport News to buy marijuana. Woman faces fentanyl terrorist charges, another also charged in Caroline County investigation

A fentanyl distribution investigation in Caroline led to the arrest of two women, and one of them is facing terror charges. Caroline Sheriff’s Office reported that its narcotics investigators were conducting an investigation that led to a search warrant for 7414 Rylands Rd. in Woodford. On Thursday, February 8, the Special Emergency Response Team along with deputies and narcotics investigators executed that warrant. CCSO reported that paraphernalia and “items associated with the packaging and distribution of fentanyl” were seized. The search warrant led to the arrest of 57-year-old Cynthia Ann Woods of Woodford. Leesburg Police Department released a video compilation after a string of successful and attempted motor vehicle break-ins. According to LPD, detectives are investigating 26 incidents that occurred in the northeast part of town, all in the early hours of Tuesday, February 6. Manassas man ejected, killed in I-81 crash in Shenandoah

A two-vehicle accident on I-81 in Shenandoah County proved fatal for an ejected passenger. The incident occurred Monday, January 29, at 6 p.m. at the 289 mile marker, Virginia State Police reported. A 2015 Ford F350 experienced a driver’s side blowout, which caused the truck to run off the right side of the road, flip, and hit the guardrail. Wilson R. Acosta Zelaya, a 21-year-old of Springfield, was in the backseat and was not wearing a seatbelt, VSP stated. He was thrown from the vehicle into roadway and was hit by a Kenworth tractor-trailer. The Virginia Senate passed a bill, SB 447, that will allow gun owners to be charged a $500 civil penalty for leaving a handgun in view in an unattended vehicle that’s parked on public property. Emergency landing on Friday is second in Loudoun in a week

Friday, January 26, marked the second emergency landing in Loudoun County within in a week. The latest incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at Leesburg Executive Airport. A Pilatus PC12 was coming in to the airport when the landing gear failed to fully extend, according to Leesburg Police Department. The pilot was able to safely land the plane in the grass just off the tarmac. Leesburg PD said six passengers were onboard, and no injuries were reported. Wanted man jumps off James River Bridge, survives

A 29 year-old Suffolk man who was wanted for felony probation violation jumped off the James River Bridge this morning, January 22, in an attempt to avoid arrest but was later caught, Virginia State Police reported. Kelly Golden, Jr. was driving a 2021 Hyundai sedan headed northbound on the James River Bridge, when at around 8:45 a.m., he caught the attention of a DMV special agent who reportedly saw him driving recklessly, VSP noted. That agent attempted to stop Golden, but he allegedly refused. However, traffic had come to a halt because the bridge was opening.
