Another man killed as VSP warns of ‘alarming’ rise in pedestrian fatalities

A fatal pedestrian crash was reported in Greensville County Monday morning at nearly the same time as Virginia State Police was issuing a public advisory about the mounting number of pedestrian crashes in the Commonwealth. Greensville crash In Greensville, the incident was a hit and run that occurred on Pleasant Shade Road (Route 58). According to VSP Sergeant Michelle Anaya, a man was walking westbound on Pleasant Shade Rd. when an unknown vehicle hit him. The man was west of Emporia and VSP believes the incident occurred between 4 and 5:30 a.m. The pedestrian's identity has not been released. Truck driver charged with felony for hit and run of school bus in Caroline

Kelvin Jerrod Jackson, a 33-year-old Mineral man, is facing a felony hit and run charge for crashing into a school bus in Caroline and leaving the scene. The incident occurred on February 7 at about 5:50 p.m. According to Caroline County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), a tractor-trailer hit a county school bus on Sparta Rd. near the intersection of Pendleton Rd. Deputies arrived on the scene to find the bus driver with “many lacerations on her face.” One of the three high school students who was riding the bus used his clothing to stop the bleeding on the bus driver’s face, CCSO reported. A 51-year-old man was shot while driving on I-664 in Hampton on February 20, and Virginia State Police is seeking witnesses. Based of the details that have emerged from the preliminary investigation, VSP said the victim was driving a black 2019 Toyota Yaris heading northbound in the far left lane. He was "a few car lengths" behind a school bus. VSP did not disclose which school’s bus it was. The victim reportedly told VSP that a black sedan attempted to merge into his lane to bypass the bus but wasn’t successful. Caroline Sheriff’s Office reported that its narcotics investigators were conducting an investigation that led to a search warrant for 7414 Rylands Rd. in Woodford. Manassas man ejected, killed in I-81 crash in Shenandoah

Emergency landing on Friday is second in Loudoun in a week

Friday, January 26, marked the second emergency landing in Loudoun County within in a week. The latest incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at Leesburg Executive Airport. A Pilatus PC12 was coming in to the airport when the landing gear failed to fully extend, according to Leesburg Police Department. The pilot was able to safely land the plane in the grass just off the tarmac. Leesburg PD said six passengers were onboard, and no injuries were reported.
