CBP officers in Norfolk intercept fentanyl destined for Africa

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Norfolk found over 4 ounces of fentanyl in a shipment destined for Africa, the Department reported. The drugs were found in a container with three older-model Toyota sedans listed on the manifest. CBP said the officers were conducting a routine inspection for export vehicles when they found a white powdery substance comingled with personal effects. The substance was tested using a handheld device and confirmed to be fentanyl, said CBP. 2 Fairfax men arrested for shooting 2 teens in Alexandria

Two Fairfax men have been arrested and charged for the previously reported shooting of two teens in a car at N. Fayette and Wythe Streets in late September. Alexandria Police Department said Fitzhugh Godwin, IV, 22, is charged with two counts of malicious wounding and one count of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Marcus Elliott, 28, is charged with two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one count of conspiracy to commit malicious wounding, one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, and one count of violent felon in possession of a firearm. Found: Virginia Beach man accused of hitting state trooper and fleeing the scene

A 23-year-old Virginia Beach man who allegedly hit a state trooper amid a getaway has been found and is in Virginia Beach City Jail. According to Virginia State Police, at approximately 5:16 this morning, troopers attempted to make a reckless driving stop on a blue Dodge Charger that was traveling 125 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-264 East near Laskin Road. The car didn’t stop, VSP claims, and a police chase ensued. The Charger got off the highway on the Birdneck Road exit ramp. When the car made a right on Americus Way, troopers were able to block it in because it’s a dead end road, VSP stated. Man sentenced to 8 years for Leesburg road rage incident

Ricardo Osiel Avilez Blanco, a 28-year-old Leesburg man extradited back to Virginia for a road rage case, was convicted of attempted malicious wounding and sentenced to 8 years. The incident occurred in October 2023. According to information presented by the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, Avilez Blanco was driving a white Chevrolet Camaro and started tailgating a man and his son. On Sunday, October 27, 31-year-old Maria Jose Recinos Rodriguez arrived on a morning flight from Guatemala City and was referred for a routine secondary examination for food couriers. Two Hampton Roads men pled guilty and are scheduled for sentencing in a case involving a fentanyl treasure map. Ronald Devon Matthews, a 39-year-old from the Isle of Wight, acknowledged in court documents that he’s known as “MacGyver” and “Mac” and has been in custody since he was arrested in December 2021. He pled guilty to three federal counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition on Sept 29, 2022, court documents show.
