VDOT accepting comments for truck restrictions in King & Queen

VDOT announced the King & Queen Board of Supervisors has requested that through truck restrictions be placed on several of the county’s backroads. If the changes are implemented, it will mean additional miles for the truckers forced to take alternate routes. 2 VA troopers injured in 2 separate police pursuits last weekend

Virginia State troopers were injured in two separate police pursuits last weekend. On Friday, April 12, around 2:30 p.m. Chesapeake Police Department was advised of a police pursuit coming their way that originated in Elizabeth City, NC. Chesapeake PD said they were informed the suspect had already hit an Elizabeth City police vehicle. Chesapeake PD, in turn, reached out to Virginia State Police. When the Lexus RX350 crossed into Chesapeake, Chesapeake Police joined the pursuit and reported successfully deploying spike strips. Still, the vehicle continued onto I-64 from Dominion Boulevard heading toward Virginia Beach. At that point, Virginia State troopers also joined the police chase. Police negotiate peaceful surrender of armed man barricaded in Caroline

On Thursday, authorities spent hours trying to negotiate a peaceful resolution with a Ruther Glen man who allegedly barricaded himself in a home after shooting at a woman. Around 1 a.m. that morning, a “frantic” woman called 911 and claimed amid a verbal altercation with 45-year-old Shane Stevens, she fled to her vehicle and tried to leave, and he fired a handgun at her, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office reported. The woman, who wasn’t named also reported that, in addition to being armed, Stevens was wearing a bulletproof vest. When deputies arrived at the residence on McBryant Road, Stevens was reportedly barricaded inside, and CCSO reported said he made statements to deputy M. Alexandria, VA man facing attempted murder for Maryland road rage shooting

An Alexandria, VA man is facing attempted murder and a list of other charged stemming from an alleged case of road rage. On Thursday, April 3, Maryland State Police responded to a report of a shooting on Route 5 in near Burch Hill Road in Prince George’s County.  The victim, who was uninjured, reported that a driver in a 2023 black Ford Explorer with Michigan tags shot at him. MSP said that driver was determined to be 46-year-old Marco Williams. A US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force and the Maryland State Apprehension Team arrested Williams in Fairfax on April 9. Last week, Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH), a McLean-based government contractor, struck another deal with the U.S. government, boosting its federal settlements for 2025 to over $16 million. In the latest case, BAH Inc., agreed to pay the U.S. government $422,557 to address allegations of overcharging for the labor of one employee. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) federal investigators compared invoices, timesheets, and badge swipe data for entering and exiting a secure facility and alleged that the government was billed for services a BAH employee didn’t provide. UPDATE: Virginia State Police announced the door was found in a farm field in Purcellville later on April 5. No injuries were reported. The investigation continues. Authorities are searching for the door an airplane that was reportedly ripped off causing an emergency landing. Around 9 a.m. this morning, April 5, Daniel O’Brien was flying near the Round Hill area of Loudoun County in a two-seater when the cockpit door was reportedly ripped off. Man arrested for 3 sexual misconduct incidents in a day in Fredericksburg

A 28-year-old man is being held without bond in Rappahannock Regional Jail after three alleged incidents of sexual misconduct within a short timeframe on March 29. Fredericksburg officers were dispatched to a scene where a man was reported to be exposing himself to Girl Scouts who were selling cookies. According to Fredericksburg Police Department, a patron instructed the man to leave, and he rode off on his bike before officers arrived. At J. Hikers rescued from 2 different VA mountains within 24 hours

Med-Flight 1 conducted two hiker rescue missions within 24 hours from two different Virginia mountains. The first hoist operation came on Monday, March 31, after the National Park Service notified Med-Flight 1 of a hiker in distress on Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park. The chopper flew from its base in Chesterfield approximately 80 nautical miles to the rescue site in Madison County.  Lt. Attempted murder suspect captured in Botetourt

Joseph Bray, an Eagle Rock, VA man, facing two counts of attempted murder and over a dozen other charges was taken into custody this afternoon without incident, according to Botetourt County Sheriff's Office. Earlier this week, BCSO announced they were looking for Bray whose charges stemmed from an incident that began with an alleged domestic dispute with his girlfriend Arieanna McDorman and led to him shooting at her mother. Botetourt deputies, Virginia State Police and the US Marshal Service Capital Area Regional Task Force "employed every available law enforcement resource to locate and capture" Bray, BCSO said.
