Drivers in Dale City, take note, lane closures are scheduled on I-95 North tonight, March 15 and tomorrow, March 16. VDOT is warning drivers should expect delays and advising people to take alternate routes.
The general purpose lanes will have closures around mile marker 155 between the Dale City Truck-Only Safety Rest Area North and Cardinal Drive as follows:
- 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, March 15: One lane closed
- 11 p.m. Friday, March 15 to 6:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16: Two lanes closed
- 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday, March 16: One lane closed
- 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 16: One lane closed
- 11 p.m. Saturday, March 16 to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, March 17: Two lanes closed
- 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, March 17: One lane closed
On Saturday night, March 16, the slip ramp from the northbound I-95 general purpose lanes to the north-running 95 Express Lanes near the project will remain open at all times. But the slip ramp will be closed Friday night due to the 95 Express Lanes running southbound at that time.
The lane closures are for the Powells Creek bridge project that’s underway to improve safety and extend the life of the I-95 general purpose lane bridges over Powells Creek, which were built in 1963.
