Henry County man wanted by 4 agencies allegedly tries trap door getaway

On Tuesday, Henry County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 44-year-old man wanted by four law enforcement agencies for a list of charges, including hit and run, drugs, and larceny.

HCSO said officers executed a search warrant on a residence at 1106 Joppa Rd. in Ridgeway after obtaining “credible information” that William Jackson Kennedy was hiding at the location.

Kennedy reportedly attempted to evade police during their search using a trap door. According to HCSO, the trap door allowed him to get under the mobile home, but police discovered it and found him beneath the mobile home.

Once he was discovered, HCSO said Kennedy was taken into custody without incident.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office

  • Probation Violation: Petit Larceny 3rd/Subsequent Offense
  • Probation Violation: Escape Custody
  • Probation Violation: Felony Shoplifting
  • Probation Violation: Felony Elude Police
  • Probation Violation: Possession of Ammunition by a Felon
  • Probation Violation: Breaking and Entering with Intent to Commit Larceny
  • Probation Violation: Grand Larceny

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office

  • Probation Violation: Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I or II Controlled Substances
  • Driving While License Suspended

City of Martinsville Police Department

• Probation Violation (x 2)

Virginia State Police

  • Felony Hit and Run
  • Driving While License Suspended

Kennedy is being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
