Woodbridge man charged for death of Newport News man in Fairfax

Virginia State have announced charges against a Woodbridge man accused of killing a pedestrian in a fatal crash on I-495 west in Fairfax on Sunday, March 10.

At around 3:30 a.m., Gregory B,. Bruington, Jr., a 30-year-old Newport News man, was on the left shoulder of the highway at the 175-mile marker changing the tire on a 2017 VW Golf.

Carlos Lisandro Nunez-Morales was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram when he ran off the road to the left and hit Bruington, VSP reported.

Bruington died at the scene.

There was a passenger in the Golf, 24-year-old Hailey Frazier, who was injured despite wearing a seatbelt at the time, according to VSP.

Nunez-Morales was not wearing a seatbelt and also suffered injuries that VSP described as minor.

Nunez-Morales, who is 26, is facing charges for DUI: 2nd offense in 5 years, involuntary manslaughter, and driving revoked/suspended.

Court records show his bond hearing scheduled for yesterday, March 13, was continued and he is currently still incarcerated.

VSP said the investigation is still ongoing.
