Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported a vehicle-to-vehicle maneuver was used to stop a Mechanicsville woman that led police on a high-speed chase in a Nissan Rogue.
Just after 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, a Rogue passed Deputy M.A. Holub on I-95 North driving on the shoulder going over 100 mph, said SCSO Major Shawn Kimmitz. At that point, the suspect vechicle and deputy were near Warrenton Rd.
Holub, who was also moving northbound, activated his emergency equipment and attempted to make a traffic stop. “But the Rogue refused to stop, accelerating to over 118 mph and weaving through traffic,” SCSO explained in an update on the situation.
“A pursuit ensued,” said Kimmitz.
Deputies attempted to interrupt the pursuit using a spike strip near Courthouse Rd., but that was reportedly unsuccessful.
When the pursuit got near the 142 mile marker, due to traffic, the driver was reportedly forced to slow down, and SCSO said deputies organized “a rolling road block.”
Holub was eventually able to get his police cruiser even with the suspect’s vehicle and pushed the Rogue against the concrete Jersey wall, SCSO explained, adding that Deputy A.J. Layug blocked off the front of the suspect’s vehicle and Deputy S.M. Craig covered the rear.
The driver, idenfied as 30-year-old Shannon Kathleen Beck, was given field sobriety tests.
The incident ended with Beck in Rappahannock Regional Jail where she is still currently being held without bond, jail record show.
She is charged with felony eluding, reckless driving: speed, reckless driving: operating on the shoulder, driving without insurance, and DWI drugs: 1st offense.
