Same 2 teens charged in Stafford & Fredericksburg armed robberies

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office announced that two juveniles are being held in the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center after police obtained evidence linking them to two armed robberies

One set of charges for the teens is for an armed robbery at the Red Apple Tobacco at 432 Garrisonville Rd. in Stafford.

The incident occurred on November 17, 2023, at around 5 p.m. According to SCSO two males entered the business wearing masks and carrying backpacks. “One of the suspects displayed a firearm, holding the clerk at gunpoint, and demanded cash from the register. Both suspects fled on foot with cash and assorted vapes.”

At the time, SCSO said they went into the woods headed towards Barrett Heights. Police established a perimeter around the area, had drone and K9 searches, but couldn’t locate the suspects.

This week, SCSO announced that First Sergeant C.L. Smith and Detective K.A. Lawrence determined two juveniles were the suspects and obtained numerous search warrants that were executed on February 2 in North Stafford at the homes of both teens. “Incriminating evidence was seized during the search warrants.”

SCSO noted that detention orders were issued for both juveniles for robbery and conspiracy. One of them has the added charge of use of a firearm during a felony.

These two juveniles were the same pair linked to the robbery of Tobacco Hut and Vape a few weeks ago, SCSO added.

In that case, on January 29, the armed robbery occurred around 4 p.m. Fredericksburg Police said employees at the Dixon Street store reported that two males came in with their face and hair covered, and one fired a shot and demanded money.

The suspects reportedly got away with money and merchandise, leaving the scene in a dark gray/silver SUV. No one was shot.

On February 5, FPD announced the suspects had been identified.

The 16-year-old Stafford resident was with robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, underage possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling.

The 17-year-old was charged with was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, underage possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling.
