Powhatan man wanted for hit & run

Virginia State Police identified the suspect in the May 26, 2024 hit and run in Powhatan and is asking for the public’s help to find him. The suspect, Dustin A. Bailey, is a 36-year-old Powhatan resident. According to VSP, he previously worked on Iron Bridge Road in Chesterfield and in the City of Richmond. (Photo: VSP) On the day of that incident, at approximately 10:04 a.m., a 2019 Kia Forte was stopped at a red light on Rt. 60 (Anderson Highway) at the intersection with Luck Stone Rd. and was rear-ended by a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche that reportedly fled the scene. The Forte drive suffered minor injuries according to VSP. 2 Blue Ridge Task Force investigations closed with arrests

Two months into 2025, and Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force wrapped up two investigations with seizures and arrests. At the end of January, Virginia State Police, a member of the Blue Ridge task force, announced partners ended a lengthy investigation with the arrest of Howard B. Jenkins of Manassas. According to VSP, Culpeper Sheriff’s office and other task force officers stopped a Chevy Tahoe on Route 3 near Yellow Bottom Road in Culpeper for not having a license plate. The driver 43-year-old Jenkins, tried to run but was quickly caught. DWR K-9 tracks suspect, drugs found, 5 Martinsville men arrested

Henry County Sheriff’s Office credited a Dept. of Wildlife Resources (DWR) K-9 for playing a significant role in a police chase that ultimately led to the arrest of 5 Martinsville men. On Thursday, at around 4 p.m., the Henry County Narcotics Interdiction Unit unsuccessfully tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver led deputies on a police chase that spanned for approximately 3 miles, according to HCSO. On Stockton Rd., the driver, now identified as Donovan A. Nibblett, reportedly got out and ran. ICE warns of taking immigration enforcement in DC & VA ‘extremely seriously’

ICE Washington DC warned it’s taking the immigration enforcement mission in D.C. and Virginia “extremely seriously.” That statement came along with the announcement that seven illegal aliens were arrested in Northern Virginia on Feb. 5 during a joint effort between the Washington DC divisions of ICE and the FBI in Annadale. Information from ICE show that one of those arrested in Annadale was previously deported, a 51-year-old Mexican national convicted of DWI in Prince William last April. One, a 22-year-old Salvadoran, had been apprehended before for illegally entering the U.S. in June 2019. Sussex County Sheriff’s Office announced the family of two October 2024 shooting victims is offering a $40,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. SCSO said, on October 24, at about 11:49 p.m., the office received a call reporting a person shot at a residence on East Church Street in Wakefield. Information gathered suggested two people went into the home and shot two residents, the office added. Fugitive with 20 warrants found & arrested in Charles City County

A wanted man with 20 outstanding warrants was caught and arrested in Charles City County. On January 28, James City County Police Department released a wanted poster for 22-year-old Tyler Kwan Wallace and announced he had 20 warrants issued between August and December 2024. The charges included abduction, assault and battery, strangulation, and child abuse, JCCPD said. “Despite exhaustive efforts to locate him, Wallace remains at large,” said JCCPD. Although the department asked the public to provide information, the public was advised not approach him and said he should be considered armed. Williamsburg man sentenced for impersonating cop while detaining children

Cody Hardin, a 31-year-old Williamsburg man, was sentenced Wednesday for impersonating law enforcement while detaining children. James City County Police Department issued a statement explaining that Hardin was arrested last October after the office received a call from a person claiming to be an off-duty police officer, and he said he had two juveniles in the Fenwick Hills neighborhood for suspicious activity. US Marshals offering reward for escaped inmate from North Carolina

With the manhunt approaching two weeks, the U.S. Marshals Service announced a reward up to $7,000 for escapee John Matthew Nigh. Nigh, a 37-year-old white male, is wanted for escaping from the Craven County Detention Facility in North Carolina. USMS labeled him armed and dangerous and said he has an extensive criminal history including attempted murder of law enforcement, drugs, and weapons charges. According to Craven County Sheriff’s Office, detention officers discovered Nigh was missing from his cell at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26. Mother and 3 children killed in murder/suicide in Chesapeake

Chesapeake Police Department revealed that those killed in a February 6th “murder/suicide” were a mother and her three children. CPD reported that at approximately 6:54 a.m. on Thursday morning, officers responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 3000 block of Welcome Road. The officers made contact with the occupant who was barricaded and armed, according to police. According to CPD, officers immediately established a perimeter and attempted to negotiate. Yesterday, Feb. 5, Jose Rodriguez, a 16-year-old Massachusetts resident charged as an adult, was found guilty of attempted 1st degree murder in Smyth County, VA. That conviction stemmed from a July 2024 incident where Rodriguez attacked a gas station attendant with a fixed blade knife at the Chilhowie Exxon, noted Smyth County Commonwealth’s Attorney Phillip Blevins.
