Cody Hardin, a 31-year-old Williamsburg man, was sentenced Wednesday for impersonating law enforcement while detaining children. James City County Police Department issued a statement explaining that Hardin was arrested last October after the office received a call from a person claiming to be an off-duty police officer, and he said he had two juveniles in the Fenwick Hills neighborhood for suspicious activity. US Marshals offering reward for escaped inmate from North Carolina

With the manhunt approaching two weeks, the U.S. Marshals Service announced a reward up to $7,000 for escapee John Matthew Nigh. Nigh, a 37-year-old white male, is wanted for escaping from the Craven County Detention Facility in North Carolina. USMS labeled him armed and dangerous and said he has an extensive criminal history including attempted murder of law enforcement, drugs, and weapons charges. According to Craven County Sheriff’s Office, detention officers discovered Nigh was missing from his cell at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26. Chesapeake Police Department revealed that those killed in a February 6th “murder/suicide” were a mother and her three children. CPD reported that at approximately 6:54 a.m. on Thursday morning, officers responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 3000 block of Welcome Road. The officers made contact with the occupant who was barricaded and armed, according to police. According to CPD, officers immediately established a perimeter and attempted to negotiate. Meanwhile, SWAT and hostage negotiators were dispatched to the scene. Alexandria Police Department announced three juveniles have been charged for the Sept. 19, 2024, shooting on Wythe Street, an incident with three victims, including one who died. “This crime was planned, deliberate, and it was violent,” APD Chief Tarrick McGuire said during a press conference. The three males, who at the time were ages 16 – 17, approached on foot and opened fire, he explained. A 25-year-old man in what is believed to be the shooters’ “target area” was shot and killed. The body of Gabriella Watkins, a 19-year-old who went missing in early December, has been located, Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. As previously reported, Watkins had been missing since December 6. VSP asking public to submit info about shooting on I-64 in Norfolk

Virginia State Police is asking the public to reach out with any information about a vehicle or potential shooters involved in a shooting on I-64 in Norfolk on Saturday, Jan. 25. At approximately 3:14 p.m. a male called the state police communication center reporting he was involved in a shooting. According to VSP, its preliminary investigations revealed the victim was heading west in a blue Kia Stinger near Norview Avenue. An “unknown vehicle” began shooting, prompted the Stinger driver to get off the interstate at Chesapeake Boulevard. Stuart man allegedly wielding a pipe gets shot by a 78-year-old

A 34-year-old man from Stuart had to be airlifted to the hospital after getting shot while allegedly busting his way into an elderly man’s home. Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith reported that James Hazelwood, a 78-year-old who lives on Big A School Road in Stuart, called 911 just after 8:30 a.m. on January 23 to report a man with an iron pipe was outside beating his vehicle. That man, identified as Griffith Coy Goodyear, of Salem Highway also in Stuart, then proceeded to use the pipe to beat the residence and busted out several windows, Smith said Hazelwood reported.
