Attempted murder suspect captured in Botetourt

Joseph Bray, an Eagle Rock, VA man, facing two counts of attempted murder and over a dozen other charges was taken into custody this afternoon without incident, according to Botetourt County Sheriff's Office. Earlier this week, BCSO announced they were looking for Bray whose charges stemmed from an incident that began with an alleged domestic dispute with his girlfriend Arieanna McDorman and led to him shooting at her mother. Botetourt deputies, Virginia State Police and the US Marshal Service Capital Area Regional Task Force "employed every available law enforcement resource to locate and capture" Bray, BCSO said. A Caroline Middle School student is being held in detention after being arrested on charges for threats of violence, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office reported. The incident was uncovered by CMS students who reportedly overheard the suspect talking about threats of violence that would occur at the school after spring break. Those students reported what they heard, according to School Resource Officer Deputy I. Deitz. Their report prompted a “thorough” joint investigation that included Deitz and Caroline Schools’ staff.   Caroline County Juvenile Intake found the situation warranted issuing charges against the student in question. Police seeking Eagle Rock man for attempted murder & woman he allegedly assaulted

Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance locating an Eagle Rock, VA man facing a list of charges, including attempted murder, and a woman who may be with him against her will. According to BCSO, Arieanna McDorman, on March 23, a 32-year-old Clifton Forge woman, contacted her mother claiming she was in a dispute with her boyfriend.  The mother, who wasn’t named, and her partner, also unidentified, went to the location where McDorman was, a residence in the 20000 block of Botetourt Road in Eagle Rock. BCSO said when they arrived to pick up McDorman, a suspect, later identified as 34-year-old Joseph Bray Lee, of Eagle Rock, was restraining McDorman by the arm. 18-Year-Old Charged for Fatal Hit & Run in Henrico

An 18-year-old has been arrested for the fatal hit-and-run that occurred at Airport Drive in Henrico last Saturday, March 22. The incident reportedly began with a New Kent deputy attempting to stop a vehicle headed westbound on I-64. According to New Kent Sheriff’s Office, that vehicle was going over 110 miles per hour. Refusing to stop, the car, later identified as a Cadillac CTS, continued into Henrico and took the Airport Road exit. NKSO said the driver disregarded multiple traffic signals and collided into another vehicle. According to evidence presented by federal prosecutors, Jenkins accepted over $75,000 in bribes from multiple individuals, including businessmen from Northern Virginia, who received official Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office badges and credentials, despite lacking proper training, vetting, or any legitimate duties within the Sheriff's Office. All five Fredericksburg City Public Schools were closed Friday, March 21, due to a wanted 16-year-old from Fairfax. Fasihullah Safar, who lives in Alexandria, was reported missing by his family on March 17, according to Fairfax County Police Department. Second degree murder has been added to the list of charges for the man and woman accused of killing 67-year-old Jose Medellin in James City County. On January 31, shortly after 2 p.m., JCCPD officers responded to Diascund Reservoir Road for a report of an assault in progress and reportedly found a woman outside the residence with visible injuries. Inside they found Medellin unresponsive. JCCPD said officers immediately began lifesaving measures until medical units arrived, but by 3 p.m., Medellin was pronounced dead. Woodbridge man charged with armed robbery in Caroline, possible suspect in other counties

On March 12, a Caroline County police officer, deputy Watkins, went to Sheetz in Ladysmith to inform employees that another Sheetz in King George had been robbed.  According to Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, only 5 minutes after Watkins left the store, the suspect came in. According to CCSO, he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a mask. He approached the clerk with a gun, demanded money, and after the clerk complied, he ran toward Rt. 1. CCSO said its investigators concluded that he got into a white SUV along Center Drive. Virginia State Police is on the hunt for Robin Lynwood Wood, Jr. who has reportedly been on the run for nearly 4 months. Also known as “Robbie," Wood is wanted for charges stemming from a serious crash in Powhatan on November 17, 2024. Wood was reportedly driving an SUV, doing 77 mph in a 55-mph zone. A Powhatan deputy attempted to stop him for speeding. VSP said Wood attempted to elude the officer and was traveling at a high rate of speed. In the midst of this getaway, he crashed into the woods and hit numerous trees. Michael Donivan White, the South Carolina man who pulled the trigger and killed Michael Chandler, a Big Stone Gap police officer, just got sentenced to another 100 years in prison. A fatal call Chandler was killed on November 13, 2021. Around 4 a.m. that morning, he responded to a welfare check at a place known locally as “the red house.”  Virginia State Police said it was well known to law enforcement for civil disturbances, warrants, welfare checks, overdoses, assaults, and drug activity.
