4 men beat felonies for bringing guns to Gloucester School Board meeting

Last summer, four out-of-town men were charged with felonies for bringing guns to a Gloucester County School Board meeting. Last week, on July 19, a jury found them not guilty. The charges stemmed from a previously reported incident at the July 2023 Gloucester School Board meeting. Trevor Herrin, of Williamsburg, came to the podium to offer some words of caution to school board members. He said someone slashed his tire at the school board meeting the month before. The self-described “experienced political operative” described the tire-slashing as an act of violence and told the School Board they had an opportunity to make things right. Murder suspect named & charged for Richmond man found dead in Caroline

One suspect has been named for the murder of Reginald Terrance Holmes, a 51-year-old Richmond man found dead in the woods in Caroline. But this first suspect is not likely to be the last, according to Caroline County Sheriff Scott Moser. Holmes’ body was discovered by a citizen on May 26, and, at the time, CCSO announced that “significant” evidence was collected from the scene. In an update this week, CCSO said investigators took that evidence from the scene and immediately began tracking down leads. That investigation pointed them to 32-year-old Johnathan O’Bryan Ellis. Arrests made for string of business and church burglaries in Herndon, pair suspected incidents

Herndon Police Department announced two arrests for a string of burglaries and larcenies. On July 12, Herndon PD announced a church was broken into twice over the span of a couple days. Surveillance images of two suspects were released, and police urged anyone with information or who could identify the males to reach out. This week, Herndon PD expressed gratitude to the community noting that the surveillance images helped identify “the offenders” and once they were identified police were able to locate them. Chesapeake men in jail after coming to Gloucester ‘with intent to steal’

Two Chesapeake men are in jail being held without bond after they allegedly traveled to Gloucester to steal $28,000 worth of equipment, Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office reported. GCSO said the men were caught on July 11 after a citizen saw and reported that someone was driving what appeared to be a new John Deere tractor on George Washington Memorial Highway, a four-lane artery that connects the Middle Peninsula to Hampton Roads. That citizen also reported that when the tractor got near Vulcan Stone, it was loaded onto a trailer. A deputy spotted a truck pulling a trailer with a John Deere, said GCSO. US Marshals catch murder suspect 8 months after Prince William shooting

The US Marshals Service caught the Fredericksburg man who was wanted in Prince William for the murder of 26-year-old Quatrail Raynard Smalls of Big Stone Gap. As  previously reported, on November 14, Prince William County Police found Smalls shot in the 3700 block of Wharf Lane in Triangle. He survived the trip to the hospital but later died. The following day, PWCPD announced Tyus James Terrell, a 27-year-old Fredericksburg man, as the suspect. After over a week  of fruitless attempts to find him, the department announced a $5,000 reward. On January 3, PWCPD doubled the reward, but still there was no Terrell until this week. Man arrested and charged for setting fires in Chesterfield

Chesterfield Fire Marshal’s Office believes the fires found along Iron Bridge Road on Monday were intentionally set. Just before 5 p.m. fire and EMS crews were dispatched for a report of a brush fire along Rt. 10 near Kingsland Rd. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found two separate fires, one on each side of the road, Chesterfield authorities reported. South Carolina man pled guilty to killing Virginia police officer

On Wednesday, Michael Donivan White, a 36-year-old South Carolina man, pled guilty to eight federal charges linked to the murder of Michael Chandler, a Big Stone Gap Police Officer. Chandler was killed in the line of duty on November 13 at 2505 Orr Street. That location, referred to locally as “the red house,” was well-known to police who were dispatched there for civil disturbances, warrants, welfare checks, overdoses, assaults, and drug-related activities, according to Virginia State Police. Leesburg man stopped for public intoxication hit with drug & gun charges

Appearing to be intoxicated landed a Leesburg man in jail facing several drug and gun charges. According to Leesburg Police Department, officers were in the 75 Plaza Street NE area at around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday conducting foot patrol when they encountered 28-year-old Nicholas T. Roach, who “appeared to be under the influence.” LPD said Roach was placed under arrest for public intoxication. 23-year-old wanted for killing 3 roommates in Virginia caught in New York

After a hunt lasting over a day, the triple-murder suspect Alyssa Jane Venable of Spotsylvania, VA was captured in New York. Wednesday, Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office announced 23-year-old Venable was wanted for three counts of 2nd degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. She is accused of killing her roommates who were found Tuesday night at around 10 p.m. in their shared home. Venable and the three victims, each rented a room inside of a brick house in the 10500 block of White Street Court, reported Fox 5 DC. Police searching for Spotsylvania woman accused of killing 3 people

A search is underway for a 23-year-old woman accused of killing three people in Spotsylvania. On Tuesday, June 4, Spotsylvania deputies responded to the 10500 block of White Street Court around 10 p.m. for a welfare check. Inside the residence, they found three people dead, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The victims are 77-year-old Robert John McGuire, 60-year-old Gregory Scott Powell, and Carol Anne Reese, age 65. According to SCSO, they all suffered from upper body trauma. And, “It was discovered that a roommate had committed this heinous crime.
