Former Chesapeake & Spotsylvania teacher facing charges for child sex crimes

A 31-year-old man who taught in Chesapeake and Spotsylvania is now in jail facing charges in both jurisdictions for child sex offenses. The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office announced it recently filed a charge against Daniel Brian Fleming for taking indecent liberties with a child. That charge stemmed from allegations of inappropriate contact with a juvenile in 2019. According to Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, detectives from the Child Victim Unit opened a criminal case after receiving information from Chesapeake, which already had its investigation of Fleming underway. In an effort that’s over a month long and counting, Wythe County Sheriff’s Office said they have been targeting “large amounts of methamphetamine and firearms being distributed in Wythe County.” WCSO has been serving search warrants, making arrests, and has seized thousands of dollars along with thousands of grams of illegal drugs. West Monroe St. bust WCSO reported that on April 23, members of the Drug Task Force and Tactical Team executed a search warrant on a West Monroe St. home in Wytheville. 3 shot in Leesburg, Sterling man arrested

One arrest has been made for the Thursday evening shooting that sent three men to the hospital, Leesburg Police Department announced. It was around 7:48 p.m. yesterday when LPD responded to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Rd. and found three men with gunshot wounds. All were transported to the hospital with injuries LPD described as non-life-threatening. This afternoon, as police were investigating, a report came in that individuals involved in the shooting were back in the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Rd. LPD said officers responded and detained two individuals. So far, Sylvanus Massaquoi,  a 19-year-old Sterling resident, has been arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding. Stafford man charged with 8th DUI & child endangerment

A crash resulted in the arrest of a 68-year-old Stafford man who was hit with a list of charges including his 8th DUI. On Tuesday, shortly before 9 p.m., Stafford deputy S.A. Edwards was dispatched to an area near Warrenton and Poplar roads where there was an accident involving a Fauquier County Ambulance and a Chevy Tahoe. The Tahoe was driven by Homer Calvin Maxey who had “bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and admitted to consuming two twelve-ounce beers prior to driving,” SCSO reported. In the vehicle, police reportedly found four empty beer cans and a 9-year-old in the back seat without a seatbelt. The child was not injured and was turned over to a family member, SCSO stated. Stafford man convicted for gun on YouTube, sentenced for another federal gun charge

At only 27 years old, Najee Lewis, aka Bebo, of Stafford was hit with another federal prison sentence today. In 2014, Prince William Circuit Court sentenced Lewis for two robberies committed two days apart. Seven years of his 10-year sentence was suspended, and he was released in May 2018, court records show. Less than four months after his release for the robbery charges, Lewis was caught with a 9mm Ruger displayed in a music video on YouTube, That firearm was reported stolen in 2018 and was recovered in October 2019, documents from the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) show. Virginia Beach Police Department is urging the public to help “secure justice” after a 15-year-old girl was killed and an 18-year-old male was shot in the 300 block of Edwin Drive Saturday night. According to VBPD, it was just after 8:30 p.m. when the first 911 call related to this incident came in. Officers arrived on scene and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital. The 15-year-old girl later died from her injuries and the 18-year-old was in critical condition, VBPD stated. A 22-year-old Stafford man who was wanted for murder charges in Maryland was arrested yesterday in a joint operation between Stafford County Sheriff's Office and Prince George's County Police Department's Fugitive Unit. On Sunday, May 19, at around 1:45 a.m., PGPD said its officers responded to a shopping center parking lot in the 6400 block of Marlboro Pike where there was a car meet. The officers found 26-year-old John Phipps of Waldorf, MD in a vehicle suffering from gunshots. He was pronounced dead a short time later, PGPD stated. Red Onion prisoner hit with murder charge for cell mate’s death

A grand jury in Wise County charged 36-year-old Julian Leon Mitchell with aggravated murder for the death of his cell mate. On August 23, 2023, corrections staff found Jowell Legendre unresponsive in his cell at Red Onion State Prison, VADOC stated. The staff performed life-saving measures and Legendre was transported to Dickenson Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mitchell shared the cell with Jowell, and according to VADOC, he told security staff Legendre fell from the top bunk. After an investigation, VADOC presented the evidence to Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney, and an indictment was filed last week, on May 15, VADOC reported. Leesburg Police Department announced arrests in two daytime robbery- assault cases that occurred within about 24 hours. Last Friday, at about 5:22 p.m., LPD said officers reported to the Sheetz at 915 Edwards Ferry Road NE, where “an area man” reported that a known male assaulted him, took his cell phone, and ran off. LPD said officers canvassed the area and found the suspect in the unit block of Plaza Street NE but when he saw police, he ran. That suspect, Fidel Ordonez Molina, an 18-year-old from Leesburg, was caught after a short foot chase, LPD reported. Virginia State Police has released additional information about 38-year-old Jason Fragale amid an continued effort to get the public to provide any information they may have. Last month, VSP and Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement issued a joint statement noting that Fragale has been linked to Leesburg, VA and Kissimmee, FL. He is facing 10 felony warrants in Loudoun County, VA. Half are for possession of child porn and half are for reproduction of child porn. According to the statement, a cyber tip was submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Investigators then tracked the IP address to Fragale's Leesburg residence.
