Death Toll Rises to 2 in ODU Campus Shooting, Identities Revealed

One of the victims wounded in Thursday’s shooting inside a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps classroom at Old Dominion University has died, authorities confirmed. The victim was identified Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, the head of the university’s Army ROTC program and a professor of military science. Shah, a Virginia native and an ODU alumnus, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2003 and has received numerous military commendations, including two Bronze Stars. Driver in Overboard Crash on Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Identified

The driver killed in the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (CBBT) accident involving a tractor-trailer running overboard has been identified as Ronnie Andrews, age 61, of Robersonville, NC. Andrews’ body and the vehicle, which was owned by Perdue Farms, were recovered from the water Sunday night by Crofton Diving of Portsmouth. Longer delays for Coleman Bridge openings, warns VDOT

VDOT has warned drivers and boaters to expect extended delays when there are Coleman bridge openings. Due to mechanical issues, crews now have to manually open the bridge, which requires additional procedures and manpower. According the VDOT, the extra steps add 25–40 minutes to the process, resulting in total opening times of approximately 45–60 minutes. Virginia State Police have launched an investigation into a tractor-trailer crash in Isle of Wight County Monday night that knocked out power in the James River Bridge area and prompted a lengthy shutdown of the southbound lanes. A motorcycle rider who tried to outrun police in Norfolk crashed and died over Labor Day weekend, Virginia State Police reported. On Sunday, August 31, a trooper was monitoring westbound traffic near Laskin Road when around 1:24 p.m. a motorcycle was reportedly clocked traveling over 100 mph in a 55-mph zone. Cause of death for Norfolk sailor Resendiz is undetermined

The cause of death for the Navy sailor Angelina Resendiz has been ruled undetermined, her family reported. In a statement, the family wrote “Given the condition of her body, we understand why this conclusion was reached by the medical examiner.” Resendiz, a 21-year-old based at Naval Station Norfolk, was found dead off base nearly two weeks after she went missing.
