VSP explains how dump truck crashed over side of I-664 overpass in Suffolk

Although the investigation is still underway, Virginia State Police provided details about how a dump truck went off an I-664 overpass in Suffolk and crashed down on Bridge Rd. At around 11:30 a.m., 20-year-old William Carl Moore was driving an unloaded Western Star dump truck northbound on I-664. A tire exploded causing Moore to lose control, and he ran off the road and hit the jersey wall, VSP said. On August 8, 2023, when Newport News Police responded to a shots fired call in the 400 block of Stallings Court, three men were found inside a residence dead. The victims were Alvin Eugene Holiday, 61, and Monroe McGilvary Jr., 60, both from Williamsburg, along with Derek Rico Jones, a 36-year-old from Newport News.
