The US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) is working to keep 36-year-old Brad Kenneth Spafford in custody after claiming the search of his farm in Smithfield led to what may be “the largest seizure by number of finished explosive devices in FBI history.” Spafford was arrested on December 17 and charged with a single count of possession of an unregistered short-barrel rifle. However, federal court documents show, in addition to that gun, the FBI located more than 150 homemade improvised explosive devices deemed as pipe bombs. Micheal McKinley Jr. who Suffolk Police Department as its “#1 most wanted” was arrested on December 11. Virginia Beach Police Department linked a robbery suspect to a shooting in Chesapeake, and 21-year-old Timothy Eugene Lane Jr. is now facing charges in both cities. VBPD officers responded to a home invasion robbery call in the 700 block of Brook Meadow Ct. on Oct. 15. The investigation led to Lane being identified as the suspect, and when he was arrested police recovered a gun, the department stated. CBP officers in Norfolk intercept fentanyl destined for Africa

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Norfolk found over 4 ounces of fentanyl in a shipment destined for Africa, the Department reported. The drugs were found in a container with three older-model Toyota sedans listed on the manifest. CBP said the officers were conducting a routine inspection for export vehicles when they found a white powdery substance comingled with personal effects. The substance was tested using a handheld device and confirmed to be fentanyl, said CBP. A 23-year-old Virginia Beach man who allegedly hit a state trooper amid a getaway has been found and is in Virginia Beach City Jail. According to Virginia State Police, at approximately 5:16 this morning, troopers attempted to make a reckless driving stop on a blue Dodge Charger that was traveling 125 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-264 East near Laskin Road. The car didn’t stop, VSP claims, and a police chase ensued. The Charger got off the highway on the Birdneck Road exit ramp. 19-year-old Suffolk man seeking bond for I-664 road rage shooting

A 19-year-old from Suffolk has been arrested for a road rage shooting in Chesapeake. According to Virginia State Police, at approximately 5:19 p.m. on October 12, 2024, two vehicles were traveling northbound on Interstate 664. At the Pughsville Road off ramp, shots were fired from one vehicle injuring an unnamed female in another. Her injuries were not life-threatening, VSP stated. VSP’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called in to investigate and announced they were looking for information on a suspect in a white Nissan Maxima. A state trooper was hospitalized this morning after his vehicle was hit during a traffic stop, Virginia State Police reported. Trooper B. Nicholson was reportedly stopped on a closed shoulder of I-64 at the 236 mile marker in York County. He had just completed a traffic stop and returned to his patrol vehicle, a 2021 Ford Explorer, which was marked and had all the emergency equipment activated according to VSP. Missing Norfolk girl believed to be at risk

A 12-year-old Norfolk girl, Tiffany Maria Jackson, is missing. Norfolk Police Department said detectives are actively looking for her, and authorities are asking for the public’s help. Jackson is described as 5’3’ and 125 with black medium-length dreadlocks and brown eyes. She was last seen at 6:45 a.m. on October 10 at her home on Amherst St. in Norfolk.
