Tractor-trailer crashes into medical transport, Tappahannock man flown out

Two people were hospitalized after a tractor-trailer crashed into a medical transport van in Essex, Virginia State Police announced. On Tuesday morning, a medical transport van, a 2012 Dodge, was stopped in the road on Rt. 360 about .2 of a mile west of Route 619 because a tree had fallen across both the eastbound and westbound lanes, according to VSP. A 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer rear-ended the van, which had a passenger in route to McGuire Veterans Hospital. VSP, said after impact with the van, the tractor-trailer jack-knifed and hit the bridge. A portion of the cab was over the side of the bridge. 3-vehicle crash in Middlesex injures 7 people

Seven people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Rt. 33 in Middlesex on Monday, VSP reported. The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. just east of Mill Creek Rd. and blocked the eastbound and westbound sides of Rt 33. VSP said its preliminary investigation revealed 30-year-old Taylor Mae Moore of Hardyville was driving a 2007 Honda Civic and rear-ended a 2014 Subaru Outback as it stopped in the eastbound lane of Route 33 for additional traffic ahead. The Subaru, driven by 43-year-old Ann Regan Wynne of Deltaville, then struck a 2007 Toyota Tundra that was heading west. In the January 30, Dr. Vladu said two incidents were discovered within the last 24 hours. At Page Middle School a message was found in a restroom that similar to the one found at Peasley Middle School on January 19, the superintendent stated. At Gloucester High School, “a message of hatred directed at the African American Community” was found on a bathroom stall. Middlesex man wanted in Mathews

UPDATE: Langford was arrested on February 13th without incident by Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office and was subsequently held without bond. A Middlesex man is wanted in Mathews after allegedly making a successful getaway. Mathews County Sheriff’s Office reported that one of its deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop on a 2011 Black Ford Focus on Tuesday, January 30. The deputy was initially attempting to stop the car for going an excessive speed on Twiggs Ferry Road in the area of Dixie Drive, MCSO explained. Lane closure scheduled on Coleman Bridge Sunday

This weekend, VDOT contractors are scheduled to work on the George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge, which carries Rt. 17 between Gloucester and York counties. Drivers may want to factor in additional travel time on Sunday, Jan. 28. There will be a single-lane closure scheduled on from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. Marine traffic that requires bridge openings will also be impacted. Between 8 a.m. and as late as 8 p.m., all bridge openings will be restricted. Work and successful testing will need to be completed before the reopenings resume, noted VDOT. Vessels that don’t require a bridge open can continue using the channel as usual. Mathews County Sheriff’s Office introduced an app “paid for by your local drug dealer.” The Sheriff's Office app is intended to be a two-way channel allowing the Sheriff’s Office to communicate with the public but also allowing individuals to communicate with police. Within days, there were two fatal hunting dog shootings in neighboring counties in Virginia. But the incidents appear unrelated. Gloucester investigating and man arrested for shooting

Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office announced there’s an active investigation into a January 2 shooting but an arrest has been made. According to GCSO, deputies were dispatched to the 2300 Block of Perrin Creek Rd at 6:58 p.m. on Tuesday. The call was for “a domestic-related shooting,” and upon arriving at the scene in Hayes, police found an unnamed male victim “with serious injuries.” The man was transported to the hospital and, as of this morning (Jan. 3), he was still receiving medical care.
